It’s that time of year, winter runoff has ended and afternoon showers bring refreshment to area lakes and streams. It’s the season for fly fishing in South Western Colorado. Right outside our door is some of the best fishing in the state. We have the San Miguel River, just steps away, along with the Dolores and Gunnison Rivers: not to mention numerous feeder creeks and high alpine lakes. It’s dry fly season and Hobbs and I love getting our feet wet exploring new waters. Trout are abundant, we have four main species here, Brook, Brown, Rainbow and Colorado Cutthroat.

Another great thing about this area is the abundance of public water access. It’s not difficult to spent a whole day fishing in solitude, just you and the river.
