Telluride provides outstanding terrain for any level of skier or snowboarder. Telluride’s 2,000 acres of skiing allows you to choose your own terrain while providing unforgettable views of the entire Telluride region. The ski slopes in Telluride are also known for being uncrowded; you’ll spend more time enjoying your time skiing than waiting in lines. With more than 300 inches of snow each year and 300 days of sunshine and, Telluride has unbeatable conditions that will make your experience in Telluride memorable.
Telluride Cross-Country Skiing provides miles and miles of trails to explore on. The Valley Floor loop is a 3.5 mile beginner loop that can be accessed right from the town of Telluride. There is also a well maintained, 1.5 miles circuit track located in the Town Park. For adventurers, there is also Priest Lake that offers a longer tracker in a more quiet and remote surrounding. Rentals are available at both the Telluride Nordic Center in Town Park and Telluride Sports.
Telluride Ice Skating is a unique experience that can be enjoyed during the daytime and nighttime throughout the winter season. Telluride offers both an indoor professional hockey size rink and an outdoor, natural, non-refrigerated rink in the Town Park. Visitors can rent skates at the Telluride Nordic Center. This is a wonderful wintertime activity to do with friends and family.
The most notable area to go sledding on is Firecracker Hill, located in the southern side of Town Park. These hills are long, steep, and funnel out into a long flat field. Be sure to bring a sled with you; you can purchase sleds at the nearby Ace Hardware store. Our concierge can also recommend more tucked away sledding hills around Telluride!
If you love dogs and you want to see the San Juan Mountains from a unique perspective, Dog Sledding in Telluride will be an experience you won’t forget! Enjoy being pulled on a sled by a team of Alaskan huskies through the snow-covered mountains and forests while learning about the sport of dog sledding and racing.
Snowshoeing in Telluride is a great way to explore our unique mountain terrain while enjoying the breathtaking views from every corner you step foot. Snowshoeing is a relaxing activity that can be done alone or with a tour guide. Snowshoe rentals are conveniently located at Paragon & Bootdoctors, a half-a-block away from the Hotel.
Enjoy dashing through the snow-covered hills and forests while being pulled by Belgian drafts. This wintertime activity is a wonderful way to explore the surrounding landscapes and a great way to learn about Telluride! Don’t worry about being cold, these sleigh rides provide warm blankets to ensure you are comfortable throughout your ride!
Snowmobiling is a perfect way to spend your day-off from skiing or snowboarding. Enjoy driving your own snowmobile up and down through the snow packed hills in the San Juan Mountains. This is a wonderful way to sightsee and explore deeper into the mountains of Telluride!
