Hotel Columbia Telluride. It's hard to go wrong with views of the mountains, the gondola, and the San Miguel River. The Victorian style has been replaced with cool contemporary. A 2009 remodeling completely changed the face of this Telluride favorite. Everything from the art on the walls to the flooring and the beds to the TVs has been replaced with pieces in a neutral palette of cool creams and toasty tans. The next stop was to move to a lovely hotel in town for a more authentic, western experience. We chose the recently renovated Hotel Columbia. Telluride was originally named Columbia, but it had to be changed due to the confusion with a California town of the same name. With a nod to the past and firmly footed in the present, the Hotel Columbia ensconced us in mountain luxury. Our suite was post modern bliss with air conditioning, a fabulous balcony and Jacuzzi. It felt great to soak in the Jacuzzi after having stretched our muscles to the limit!
