La Cocina de Luz

"The Kitchen of Light"
The English translation is a fitting one for this terrific Mexican restaurant on Colorado Avenue. The "abundance of light" both literally and metaphorically makes La Cocina de Luz a must-stop while visiting. Dishes are authentic and lovingly prepared. Menu staples include posole, flautas, tacos and enchiladas, all of which are accompanied by two sides - salad, roasted vegetables, beans or rice. Chips and salsa are complimentary for those purchasing meals. Most days, there are specials for breakfast and lunch posted on the board outside the front door.
La Cocina also sports a juice bar, where you start with freshly-squeezed orange juice and then choose from additional ingredients like kale, beet, ginger, wheat grass and turmeric for a healthy start to your morning. In the warmer months, the patio is an inviting place to linger over lunch or dinner. Plus... the summer brings ice cream! La Cocina handmakes organic ice cream in a variety of flavors, so stop by for an afternoon snack or order a cup or cone for dessert.
