Nordic Skiing in Telluride
Cross-country (or Nordic) skiing is a fun way to explore Telluride in the winter. With miles of groomed trails to explore surrounded by beautiful scenery, it's a great way to get outdoors and get some exercise.

For Skiers Who Love Horizontal Surfaces
While not as adrenaline-inducing as skiing downhill, Nordic skiing can be a huge rush and a great way to get exercise. The Telluride Nordic Association takes great care of the Nordic skiing trails in Telluride, and also grooms and maintains the trail systems at Trout Lake and Priest Lake.
Our favorite places:
- Town Park - Just outside of the Nordic Center lies almost two miles of groomed trails that wind through Town Park. It's a great spot for a lesson or for a quick workout.
- Valley Floor - The Valley Floor offers over nine miles of groomed terrain that roam the open terrain just outside Telluride. No dogs are permitted, and there is a special track specifically for snow bikes.
- Mountain Village - Mountain Village has 10 trails for both Nordic skiing and snowshoeing that wind throughout open fields and under the cover of trees. There are eight miles of trails that run from the Mountain VIllage Center to the Mountain Village entrance, while three trails are located off of Lift #10 at the TopAten Snowshoe and Nordic Area.
- Priest Lake and Trout Lake - Priest and Trout Lake are located just a short drive from Telluride on Highway 145. Both trails have dog-friendly routes and are surrounded by stellar views of Lizard Head and the surrounding wilderness.
